Last year we gave away one copy of our favorite cookbook that focused on seasonal produce. This year we wanted to do something that would benefit ALL members!

Each share for the 2012 season comes with one FREE copy of our new CSA Cookbook!

Even though the share price increased slightly this year from last year, that increase only accommodated the farmer’s request for additional funds to cover the increase in his farming costs. The cost of making the cookbooks was independently covered and is NOT a part of your 2012 share price. We’re thrilled to be providing each member with one!

We’re very excited about this, because we know that using your produce each week is the most difficult part of joining a CSA for some people. This recipe book is a small, spiral bound cookbook with 125+ pages. It contains recipes for some produce we do not get, but it should cover everything we DO get!

Here’s a picture of the cover (click it to see it full-sized):

Our plan is to put one cookbook into the first box of the season!

ENJOY!

(non-members will be able to order the book as well, for $5 each plus shipping.)

Greetings from the Healthy Hoosiers CSA! This message is a reminder for the East members to pick up their box on Thursday November 10th. Please remember that all the boxes are the same, so simply choose one and enjoy it!

TIMELINE FOR END OF SEASON:

  • Week 25 – Nov. 8, 10 – last week of delivery
  • Box Return – Nov. 15, 17 – you need to either leave the last week’s box at the drop and take your produce home in something you bring from home, or return your box to the drop by the end of what was your normal pick up time during this week.

What’s in Your Box:

  • chinese cabbage
  • celery
  • onions
  • tomatoes – picked green and might not be #1 quality, but they really wanted to share them with us!

Here is a note from one of the drop locations last week:

Good morning!

Tomatoes for the last time today! The stalks are frozen, cleared away and the field is disked and sowed for the winter. Green tomatoes are good sliced & fried. Sowing cover crops adds nutrients and humas to the soil for next year. Enjoy your last few boxes of the season!
